I value meeting every student where they are and supporting their unique voice and journey! There is no one way of approaching the work that will speak to every person - your authentic self is the most important thing and the place from which we will always begin.

Hi! I'm Cody Sloan.

I am an LA-based actor and coach. I am proud to be classically-trained, with an MFA in Acting from the University of California San Diego, where I was the recipient of The San Diego Fellowship. At UCSD, I taught Intro to Acting and Public Speaking at the undergraduate level for two years, both in-person and navigating the pandemic with virtual teaching. I am proud to have received my graduate level training as an out queer, Transgender man. It is a privilege that not many folks from the Trans community get, and I am passionate about helping all students navigate BFA and MFA applications and auditions.

In my career, I have worked across regional theater, film, commercial, and voice over. Some favorite credits include "Selah and the Spades" on Amazon Prime, directed by Tayarisha Poe, where I worked opposite Jesse Williams and Jharrel Jerome. I also recently originated the role of GURU in MJ Kaufman’s "Wild Pride," for the sold out and 2022 Drama Desk Award-winning NYC run of "Seven Deadly Sins." In this original production, I was directed by Tony, Emmy, and Drama Desk award nominated director Moisés Kaufman.

As a private coach, I have worked with a wide variety of students, from professionals to high school students applying to BFA programs. I have supported students preparing for auditions & MFA applications and coached for dialects, voice over work, and more. I love working with non-actors, too, from poets to a Chief Financial Officer in the non-profit realm!

I messaged before the group lesson, just to let him know a little bit about my children. They are all straight-A students, a bit shy, completely different personalities, musical geniuses. I didn't tell him, they do not talk!! lol! My goodness, when he started the group lesson, he was so caring, told them about himself, asked questions that sparked something in them! I hadn't seen them that excited in years! I had to turn my Zoom camera & mic off because I began to cry. They are so excited to learn more and more. I just want to say, "Thank you!"
